Project description

This comic wants to make visible the exodus of Zainab and her family who, like another 11 million people, have been forced to leave their home since the war in Syria began in 2011.

This story and its protagonists are based on real cases and events.

What makes this project innovative?

To arrange the data of the route of a family of Syria from Alepa to Alemannia, convincing the drawings of the comic with the infografias of the data.

What was the impact of your project? How did you measure it?

It is a project that despite being alone in Spanish version, has achieved a Gold Award in the last edition of the Information is Beautiful awards. We have received different comments very favorable because it is a work that combines Infographics with Comic.

Source and methodology

We found that explaining this route to detail involved a lot of data, in each chapter we have the reference of the data that we have collected in detail. We use a Slack channel to document all the information. https://visualizarsiria.slack.com/messages/C75FVUW2G/?

Technologies Used

We have used for the comic part the Illustrator and Photoshop, the website is hosted on Github, using a bit of D3 for some interactions
